Description
Full day excursion to Takeo province. Drive 80 km from Phnom Penh to Takeo City. Drive by speedboat along 1500 years old water channels to Phnom Da temple (6th century). Stopover in Angkor Borei to visit the Funan Museum (Khmer kingdom of 1st-6th centuries).

Programme
Driving about two hours south from Phnom Penh to Takeo City (80 km). Continue by a small speedboat 22 km along an ancient Funan water channel and six km along the Angkor Borei Boat line river. Both are still used by many trading boats for transportation of goods between Vietnam and Takeo (Cambodia). You can watch rice fields and animal farms on both sides of the channel and river. At the small city Angkor Borei stopover at a museum about Funan kingdom. Continue by speedboat to Phnom Da temple and Ashram Moha Rossei temple. Phnom Da temple (6th century) is the oldest well preserved temple of Cambodia.
On the way back visit silk weaving village. Takeo is home of about 10.00 female weavers.
Continue back to Phnom Penh with a stopover at a the Angkor temple Phnom Chisor (11th century) with panorama viewand the Angkor temple Ta Prohm, which was built under Jayavarman VII (1181-1220) and has the same name like the well-known Ta Prohm temple in Siem Reap. Ta Prohm in Takeo is located closed to a small lake, called Tonle Bati, which is very popular among local population for picnic events.
