Ecotourism in the remote river and rainforest area of Tatai

If you want to spend a relaxing holiday in Cambodian nature by a river and beautiful original jungle, which also invites you to hike, we recommend the “Tatai” region in the southwestern province of Koh Kong. More and more resorts have sprung up here in recent years. Most resorts  provide equipment for water sports. In addition, the resorts offer a tasty Cambodian cuisine, including lots of fish and seafood.

This tourist destination stretches about 10 km along the Tatai River, which flows from north to south, and about 4 km along the Preat River, which flows into the Tatai from the northeast just before the National Road 48. The entire tourist area is known under the name “Tatai”. It ends in the south, where the Tatai flows into the widely branched delta of the Preak Klang Yai River, which in turn flows into Koh Kong Bay (Chhok Koh Kong). The Gulf of Thailand is located behind the offshore island of Koh Kong, which is also well known for tourism.

Getting to Tatai can be done from Phnom Penh on National Road 4, then National Road 48 (4.5 hrs, 280 km) or Sihanoukville (208 km, 3.5 hrs). From Khlong Yai Border Crossing to Trat Province in Thailand, it is about 60 km and an hour’s drive.

There are a few resorts on the Preat River that are not listed on booking.com (from north to south):
