Mondulkiri is the largest province of Cambodia with low population of only about 40,000 people. The scenery and a climate are quite unlike anywhere else in the country. In the dry season the weather is 23-29 ºC with sunshine; in summer the temperatures vary between 27 and 31ºC.
There are endless grassy hills, rivers and jungle. At an average elevation of 800m, it can get quite chilly at night. Located in the north-east of Cambodia, the hilly province of Mondulkiri is nestled against the border with Vietnam northeast of Phnom Penh and is home to several hill tribes like the neighbouring Rattanakiri province. Known for its beauty with thickly forested hills and powerful waterfalls, Mondulkiri offers wonderful opportunities for Eco-tourism in Cambodia. Waterfalls, indigenous culture, national parks and elephant trekking are the most popular tourism attractions.
Arrival in Sen Monorom City. Overnight at Nature Lodge Mondulkiri (standard double bungalow, see here).
Morning. Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Pou Lung, a minority village of the Phnong tribe. Full day elephant trekking with stopover at minorities villages at O’Ranna waterfall. Time for watching elephants showering and swimming. Lunch picnic on the way. Return to Sen Monorom by vehicle.
Morning. Breakfast at hotel. Driving to Busar, the largest waterfall of Cambodia. Time for shower and swimming. During the day the visitor is passing different landscapes including coffee plantations. Visit the most holy place of Mondulkiri province, Phnom Doh Kramom on a hill with a viewing point. Driving back to Sen Monorom.
Breakfast. Free time to explore Sen Monorom and the market.
Morning. Breakfast. Return to Phnom Penh by road (not included).
