UNESCO World Heritage Angkor
With an area of about of 200 km2 near the city of Siem Reap and hundreds of temples Angkor is the largest archaeological temple in the world. The most famous is the huge temple Angkor Wat, but also the city of Angkor Thom with Bayon in its center. In other provinces there are also large temples such as Sambor Prei Kuk (province of Angkor Thom), Preah Vihea (in the province of the same name) and Banteay Chhmar (Banteay Meanchey province). Eco Tourism
Sustainable travel – back to nature and people
80% of Cambodia’s population still live in the countryside, far away from mass tourism. Large parts of the country have been preserved in their original form, even if the former rainforest area has been reduced from 70% at the end of the 1960s to around 25% today. Especially there, Cambodia offers interesting routes to untouched nature and animal life. Visits to protected reserves of elephants and gibbons, ornithological trips. We introduce you to the traditional way of life of the Khmer, extraordinary minorities and ancient high-quality handicrafts. Be amazed by the entrepreneurial spirit of young Cambodian women in traditional crafts in the countryside. We offer trips in remote untouched nature, overnight stays in rainforest resorts, in traditional Khmer resorts in the middle of a Cambodian community, or homestay with a Cambodian family.
Mekong & the Great Lake Tonle Sap
The Mekong flows through Cambodia from the south-east to the north and stores its own tributary, the Tonle Sap, the largest lake in Southeast Asia – Lake Tonle Sap. On both waters are offered very impressive cruises to Siem Reap / Angkor, also departing from Saigon. On the river section of the Mekong in Kratie there are fresh water dolphins, the Irrawaddy, to visit.
Beautiful Beaches
The Cambodian Gulf of Thailand offers very beautiful beaches, which are still completely untouched by mass tourism. In Sihanoukville (Kompong Som) and Kep, 4 and 5 star hotels are available. On a number if islands simple but also exclusive luxury accommodations are available. Beach holidays are possible all year round.
Ethnic Minorities
The majority of the population in the provinces of Rattanakiri and Mondulkiri are ethnic minorities. The 21 tribes traditionally live as semi-nomads, cultivate rice and vegetables, practice fire clearing, keep cows, chickens and pigs as livestock. Their original religion is animistic.
