Beach holidays in Sihanoukville, Kep or one of the offshore islands in the Gulf of Thailand have always been an insider tip. At the time of French rule, Kep was the luxury seaside resort of French and Cambodian elites. Foreign statesmen, but also their wives such as Jackie Kennedy, relaxed here.

Apart from the rainy month of September, which still offers lots of sunshine, a holiday here is wonderful all year round. The water is always pleasantly warm, there is little wind, and the beaches are made of soft sand. The water on the beach is shallow and therefore very suitable for children.

Sihanoukville is the most popular seaside resort, and here is Otres Beach, which has received a completely new waterfront promenade in recent years. This is where most of the hotels, resorts and guesthouses are located, from $20 to well over a hundred dollars a night in a beautiful 4-star resort right on the beach.

There is a daily flight from Siem Reap / Angkor to Sihanoukville and back. From Phnom Penh you can reach Sihanoukville within 2-3 hours via one of the many daily buses or a private transfer.
